This page shows a selection of New Zealand lighthouses on postage stamps and related philatelic items which we currently have available in stock. We follow this with some Cinderellas from the USA also showing lighthouses.

Note: Universal mail stamps are valid postage stamps which are usable on mail from New Zealand to any overseas destination. The $1.50 face value is the airmail postcard or aerogramme rate world-wide or envelope rate to Australia and the South Pacific. We can sell individual vertical panes @ US$5 each but if only individual stamps are wanted then our price is US$2 each.

Note: The pane at right has $2 face value stamps. This sheet is a limited edition produced specially for the New Zealand maritime museum.

Note: Raoul Island is the main island in the Kermadec Islands which are situated to the North of New Zealand. Weather Station and Department of Conservation staff are based on the island but these stamps are only Cinderellas and have no postal validity.

Note: this set is overprinted for the 10th Anniversary of the International Council of Independent States

Note: Bounty island is a remote New Zealand island situated to the South East. It has no population and no lighthouses. The above "stamps" showing "Cousteau Lighthouse" are bogus or Cinderellas and have no postal validity.

Note: The German cruise ship "Europa" used a special ships cachet which featured a lighthouse for this voyage and this cachet is applied to the top left of the above cover.

Note: The Document Exchange stamps were issued by a private postal carrier based in the center of the North Island of New Zealand. They had several depots around the region and used a bus service to transport mail between each town. New Zealand Post at the time still had a postal monopoly and used legal means to have this service closed down after a few weeks. We only have a few of these in stock and so items supplied may have a different postmark to that shown above.

The above $1.50 self-adhesive stamp showing the Cape Reinga Lighthouse was issued in a booklet of 5 different $1.50 stamps as shown at left. (Front cover of booklet shown).

These stamps have been issued by the large alternative Postal Operator Document Exchange and have full postal validity for mail going overseas from New Zealand. The $1.50 rate pays for postcards or aerogrammes world-wide. these stamps must be posted in special DX post boxes which are located throughout the country.
