HGV driving at Bruntingthorpe (April 08) was good fun, but unfortunately we lost the challenge to MH Round Table.

Tickets are now on sale for the 70s disco at Lubenham village Hall on 14th October 06, price £10 which includes fish and chips.

 

 Circlers, supported by partners and children walked or cycled around Pitsford reservoir in Sept to raise money for Homestart. It was a scorching hot day everyone had a pleasant afternoon, including some of the children who somehow ended up in the water ! It is hoped to have raised in excess of £400 with this event.

 

The 3rd annual camping weekend held jointly with Market Harborough round Table in Aug 06 at Bosworth Water Trust was the biggest yet with 24 adults, 26 children, 2 bumps and numerous dogs in attendance. The weather was variable but made no difference to the fun had by all.

 

On 22nd April 06 Dawn was delighted to be able to hand-over a cheque for £1700 to a representative from Coping With Cancer in Leicestershire as a result of the fundraising activities during her year as Chairman.

 

  Tickets sold out for the Pink Evening  held at Kibworth Rugby Club on 28th October in aid of Coping with Cancer in Leicestershire. Live music and Greek food - altogether an excellent evening, raising over £1100.

 The 2nd annual  Ladies Circle / Round Table family camping weekend held at Sacrewell Farm near Peterborough was another success despite the storms and torrential downpours that occurred at regular intervals throughout. 

 

A delegation of Circlers attended the Tangent Eastern Regional Lunch at Leicester Racecourse on 26th February in support of Market Harborough Tangent who were hosting. An excellent meal was followed by a most interesting speaker - Adrian McGlynn of Weatherbys.

 

The Bollywood night was a great success with over 100 people enjoying curries and dancing to an Indian disco. Approximately £600 was raised for Rainbows. Photos are on the pictures page.

31 people ranging in ages from 4 months to quite a lot older (!) took part in the August family camping weekend at Emberton Country Park. Most people arrived in torrential rain but we didn't let that or the high winds deter us from having fun. Luckily the Saturday and Sunday arrived with sunshine enabling us to have a male v female rounders match and other games. This was a first for our circle but looks very likely to become an annual event.

Another successful January coffee morning at the Theatre raised more money for our charity account.

 The pop quiz provided fierce (?) competition, laughs and a lot of head scratching. Congratulations to the winning team headed by 2 of our Tangent members.

Oh and we managed to raise some money too!

 

The Caribbean evening was another great success, with fun being had by all.

 

Beaten by Nuneaton in the opening round of this year's area game - Pass the Pigs.

 

During a visit to the Nursery past Chairman Sue handed a cheque for £1200 to Helen, the teacher-in-charge of the Menphys Centre.

 

 

Although Ladies Circle is a non-political organisation our congratulations go to our Chairman Sarah on her election to Harborough District Council.

 

Congratulations to Sue C-D on her successful completion of the London Marathon 2003, raising over £1400 for Whizz-Kidz.

 

The Magic Evening was a great success, and much fun was had by all. The fund raisers managed to make some of the diners' money (over £600 in fact) magically disappear, hopefully to reappear in the form of a donation to Menphys.

 

Oh no! Knocked out of the area game for the 2nd time this year! Congratulations to Bedworth and thanks for a fun evening.

 

We have scrapped in to the semi-final of the area game as highest losers. Get practising those beetles for the game against Bedworth! Date now set for Wed 5th March, venue tbc.

 

The coffee morning on 18th Jan. in Harborough Theatre raised £110 for Cancer Research UK.

 

Following on from her 120 mile walk in a weekend in 2002 for Ovacome, Circle member Sue Clayton-Drabble has announced her intention to run the London Marathon in 2003. She will be running as part of the Round Table team, raising money for Whizz Kidz. All offers of sponsorship will be gratefully received !!

 

Tickets for the Dinner with Magic (15th March 2003) at the 3 Swans Hotel  are  now available. Get your order in quickly to any member of Circle as the numbers are limited and expected to sell out.  It promises to be a great night out.

 

Christmas Quiz - Closing date was 22nd Jan '03 - winner to be announced shortly.

 

Red_Squiggle.gif (1077 bytes)Harborough Circle was beaten by Hinckley in the latest round of the Area Game - Beetle Drive. However the blow was softened by delicious food, plenty of wine and good company provided by the Hinckley hosts. We now need to wait until January to see if we progresss to the next round as best losers.

 

The Round Table 80's disco, held on Sat.16th November and attended by many Circlers, was a great success. Along with a good evening over £420 was raised for local charities.  

 

Over 40 people learned some traditional British dancing at the October Hoe-Down. As well as having a great night out we raised over £270 for this year's charities.
