Memphis Overton High School
Guidelines
for using this MSN Groups site
(Note (Feb 2007): I have decided to relax the Guidelines to allow conversations on all topics that you might wish to comment on. It is likely that you are an Overton person, so feel free to comment on anything you like, sort of an "all the world from an Overton perspective."
)
As a product of the '60's, I do not care too much for concrete rules. So, "guidelines" is a much better word for how this internet site should operate, and so it is.
"All ye who enter here
"BEWARE!
"There be children about."

Since the purpose of this site is to share commentary and experience about Memphis Overton High School, its faculty, and its students, it is natural for the content rating to be "Family". Please bear this in mind when posting pictures and messages.
There is no limit on the number of messages that you can post. You can reply to any message posted on this site.
Feel free to change the direction of the topic you are writing about. In other words, there are no "off-topic" messages--write anything that comes to mind anywhere you wish, keeping in mind that a subject will most likely be seen by those you want to see it IF it is placed in the natural place where it will likely be looked for.
That's about it.
There ARE some concrete rules that you must follow, and these are those enforced by MSN, the provider of this free site. At the bottom of most screens at this site are links to the MSN Code of Conduct, and the MSN Terms of Use. These are their rules and I and we must obey them to protect the existence of this site.
In essence, these rules are:
-
Do not place copyrighted materials on this site;
-
Do not place adult materials on sites that might be visited by minors;
-
Do not engage in any illegal activities using this site;
-
Do not use this site for business purposes;
-
Do not place personal information of a sensitive natuer on this site, such as credit card, social security, or other such personal information that might be taken and used illegally by others;
-
Do not engage in personal defamation, slander, racism, sexism, ethnic cleansing, terrorism, war, or any other activities that are derogatory to others;
-
And, finally, do not place links on this site that lead to other sites that violate any of the provisions listed in the Code of Conduct and the Terms of Use.
That pretty much adds up to: Do not annoy others, and do not be too easily annoyed by others.
These are common sense behavior guidelines that will serve all of us if they were practiced throughout the internet.
As you can see, "guidelines" as practiced here are simply strong suggestion rather than rules. If we all remember why we are here, we will all enjoy being here.
Enjoy.
