***** ATTENTION: CALLING ALL MGS.NET MEMBERS! *****
Many of you have noticed that I have not been working on the custom pages on this site. The phrases "page under construction" and "come back soon" are far too ubiquitous here, and it has to stop! Unfortunately, I made this site back in 2000 with only MGS1 in mind and had no idea how rapidly the world of Metal Gear would develop. I'm losing my grip on the Metal Gear series, and though I am no less a fan than I was back in the 20th Century, I do not keep up to date with the latest news of the series anymore. This is partly due to my lack of funds: I can't afford to buy all the latest consoles and video games all the time, but it is also due to my academic studies and their demands, as well as an every increasing interest in Duran Duran, Christianity and Ravenloft.
However, I am very proud of this website and when I made it, I had no idea it would attract all the attention it has. In the time I've had it, I now have almost the same number of members as the year itself - something I never expected. I admit that I have neglected work on MGS.net's pages, but in all honesty I do not see myself working on them in the near future. HOWEVER, I want to provide all you fans with the quality website you deserve. This is where I appeal for YOUR personal assistance!
If you would like to have your very own page published on this website, now's your perfect chance. In short, what I am offering is space for you to provide members and visitors to this site with information on the latest MGS games.
In long, here are the terms and conditions (quite simple really!):
-
The page you write must be reliable, accurate, inoffensive and appropriate.
-
It can be any one (or more, if you want) of the pages listed below, or if you have a suggestion for a completely new page, simply suggest it first.
-
You must be a member of MGS.net.
-
You will not be premoted to Manager or Assistant Manager. In the past I have erred by granting somebody their managerial desire only to find my website utterly ruined or entire pages deleted the next day. I will never take a chance like that again, no matter how honest and respectful you are. While 99% of surfers would never consider the thought, I have already met the other 1%. We live in a cruel world.
-
Your name or member name will be clearly visible on the page. You will receive full credit for content (though I will actually assemble the page around your work). You can also advertise your own website, My Space or e-mail address too if you so desire.
-
Your work must not be stolen from anybody else's website (e.g. do not copy and paste a huge chunk of text from metalgearsolid.com or equivalent).
-
You are free to include links and images.
-
Feel free to be imaginative or creative!
-
In the event of more than one person applying for the construction of a page, I will either choose the best suited or merge information from both and credit all who have helped compile the page.
-
If you're concerned about your quality of written English, don't be put off; just try your best and I will make sure that spelling and grammar are correct before the page is uploaded.
-
E-mail liquidsnake2000 at hotmail dot com for more details, and suggest the page(s) you want to work on. In the subject heading, please make it clear that you are applying for the writing of a page, because ambiguous subjects that say "hi" or similar are often automatically mistaken for junk mail.
-
You stand more chance of being successful if you type the web page content in the actual e-mail than if you send it as an attachment because not all attachments get opened.
And... I think that's it. ^_^ No one has to contribute to this idea I suddenly had, but if you do, you can add to a website even if you never decide to build one yourself... and you'll receive full credit! I hope this idea will not only provide more substance to MGS.net but will also help the members feel more involved in this fan community. If you do want to take part in The Big MGS.net Re-Vamp, your best chance is to e-mail for further instructions. This all seems a lot more complicated than it actually is, but I have to be thorough!
Pages currently available for updating, writing or rewriting:
-
MGS2: Weapons & Items. There currently isn't a page for this. It would be nice to have a list of the weapons and items Snake and Raiden can use in the game.
-
MGS3: Subsistence. No page at all so far, which is just WRONG! I'm going for something similar to the MGS2: Substance page, if you're looking for inspiration. Basically a page which outlines the new features of Subsistence which Snake Eater didn't have. -
MGS3: Weapons & Items. Like MGS2, no such page currently exists, though if you want inspiration, look at the list for MGS1 or Ghost Babel. -
MGS3: Medicines & Food. Similar to the Weapons & Items list but for medicines and food available.
-
MGS3: Camouflage. Info on the camouflages available on MGS3, perhaps including all those you can win from boss battles, downloadable camouflages and those gained from key discs.
-
AC!D. Any info on AC!D welcome. That includes a brief description of the game, characters, card list or advice for strategies.
-
AC!D 2. The same things are needed for AC!D 2 pages as AC!D 1 pages!
-
MGS4: Guns of the Patriots. Any concrete info would be appreciated. Speculations also welcome. Info on characters, new moves and abilities or plotline most welcome.
-
Other MGS games. You name it. If you have info on new add-ons and sub games or even info on the oringal games, Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Snake's Revenge or Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, please share.
