CAMPAIGN FOR MEDIA FAIRNESS FOR MICHAEL JACKSON

The Greek MJ Net Club joins MJ News International and together with other fanclubs and tens of thousands of Michael Jackson fans across the world, we are voicing our dismay at the tone of various media reports regarding the latest child abuse allegations.

Michael Jackson has long been a campaigner against the abuse of children, and we applaud his stance on this matter. He is a humanitarian who uses not just his money, but also his personal time, to improve the wellbeing of children. To turn these efforts against him in order to create a highly inaccurate representation is not acceptable. Jackson's words about his friendships with children have been twisted and taken out of context in the most appalling and unnecessary manner.

Of course, Michael Jackson is not like most other people. But being different does not equal being wrong. We should be celebrating Jackson's uniqueness - which has brought us some of the most-loved pop music of all time - and applauding his refusal to be silenced on issues that he feels strongly about.

We find it depressing that little, if any, mention has been made recently of the enormous contributions Michael Jackson has made to charitable causes. The Guinness Book of Records lists Jackson as the pop star who has supported the most charities including AIDS Project L.A., American Cancer Society, Angel Food, Big Brothers of Greater Los Angeles, BMI Foundation, Brotherhood Crusade, Brothman Burn Center, Camp Ronald McDonald, Childhelp U.S.A., Children's Institute International, Cities and Schools Scholarship Fund, Community Youth Sports & Arts Foundation, Congressional Black Caucus, Dakar Foundation, Dreamstreet Kids, Dreams Come True Charity, Elisabeth Taylor Aids Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Love Match, Make A Wish Foundation, Minority Aids Project, Motown Museum, NAACP, National Rainbow Coalition, Rotary Club of Australia, Society of Singers, Starlight Foundation, The Carter Center's Atlanta Project, The Sickle Cell Research Foundation, Transafrica, United Negro College Fund, United Negro College Fund Ladder's of Hope, Volunteers of America, Watts Summer Festival, Wish Granting and YMCA - 28th Street/Crenshaw.

MJNI, The Greek MJ Net Club and the world's Michael Jackson's fans call on the relevant sections of the media to review their treatment of Jackson by offering a more balanced view of him.
