monaro racer 1  pre monaro racer 4  Norm Beechey drove the HT monaro GTS  V8 350 to victory in 1970 beating the 10 year stronghold of the USA and  UK imports  in ATTC series,

to have the first AUSSIE MUSCLE CAR win  the Australian Touring Car Championship  thus from  monaro 4  to monaro 1

Norm Beechey  raced the 1968 HK monaro GTS V8 327 as monaro 4 it was a light blue colour at first later after SHELL

sponsorship it was repainted yellow  then the HK was replaced

by the 1969 HT model with norm's modifications  it  had  circa 500 brake horsepower

FORD  managed to strike a deal with HOLDEN monaros ATTC  hero Norm Beechey as a works driver, the JOHN FRENCH XYGTHO PHASE 3 was painted up in shell colours this was to be short lived , Norm Beechey was no stranger to ATTC and  as he had won in a Ford MUSTANG in earlier years
