Sunshine Place expect to be closed until Tuesday, March 30, if not longer due to rain damage repairs. Program is expected to re-open on a limited basis after emergency repairs complete. Additional repairs may have to be made that would interfere with staff and patrons using the facility. The April 3, 10, and 17 meetings for SMHCH is expected to go on at the Sunshine Place as scheduled, per last nights Mental Health Board report by Dan Souza and staff.

Salvation Army Temporary Shelter is expected to end at end of March, however there is speculation it will continue. Those who have seen it recognizeit as a good facility. One improvement all shelters for men could use, and some of those for women, is instalation of a disability accessible shower.

Just wanted to let everybody know that I've added a link on our website with
photos of the Salvation Army Emergency Shelter located at 9th & "D"in
Modesto.
Please visit the website at www.cohsc.org and click the "Shelter Photos"
link.
Once again, we'd like to thank Councilmember Janice Keating for taking this
load on her shoulders and helping to get this shelter open. The amount of
energy that she put into is absolutely amazing. We'll be forever in her
debt.

Cuttent schedule on Temp Emergency Shelter is it closes March 31, and continuation after that is dependent on donations and funding. Socks are needed, with other donations. Churches have turned out to provide food, but could use more donors. Contact Salvation Army.

For those who were interested in the tent city project, it is shelved, as consensus is it would become an instant slum. Community garden project haslike wise been put on hold, as some wanted it to go to a tent city approach, and for reasons above, not going to happen. No. one complaint on Homeless People and illegal campers is the mess often left behind attributed to them. A good strategy would be to self police the camp areas as best you can. The alley by Sunshine Place has become a mess. jim
