AMYOTDenise
Since becoming a member of OMMA one year ago, Denise carries her camera everywhere. She captures images in the walls of crumbling buildings and in dress shop fabrics that inspire abstract paintings. She collects rusty metal in junkyards and shards of rock on canyon floors, searching for textures and colours to add to her works.
Denise’s career as a magazine editor has been useful in producing the OMMA newsletter with the help of her obliging husband Karl. She enjoys the camaraderie of other OMMA members while hanging exhibitions and has become a regular participant in the Spring and Fall retreats.
When not travelling in Cuba or Australia where she finds themes and artifacts for her work, Denise paints in her large bright kitchen. She always looks forward to viewing new shows by OMMA members and to taking more courses in mixed media.

ASSAFHeather
A native of Ottawa, Ontario, Heather is a multi-media artist, mixed-media artist and an intaglio printmaker. She is proficient in pencil drawing, pen and ink, pastel, watercolour, oil, acrylic, collage, collagraph printmaking and etching as well as a combination of all or some of the above in mixed-media work.
Primarily a studio artist, she sometimes begins to work with a photo or a sketch as a starting point. Other times, she uses music and one or two colours to begin, working intuitively until an image or a pattern suggests itself and then with successive glazings and layers she continues until a degree of satisfaction occurs and finally the work tells her it is finished.
Heather is currently interested in abstract qualities whether working with collagraphs and etchings or painting on canvas. Her love of vibrant colour and design shows up in all her work.
A move to the country and a new studio space with an etching press and a beautiful view of the Ottawa River provides the impetus for more creativity to flourish.

BARKLEYAnne
For Anne, the passion and joy of painting is first in making the art, and then in the clients, teachers, students, and other artists she meets along the way. She constantly explores new influences, ideas, subjects, methods and materials. At present her interest is in finding layers of complexity in simple abstract shapes that will call on the imagination, engage and challenge the viewer toexplore an underlying emotion that goes beyond words. Her tools are strength, determination, passion, paint, colour, design, shape, pattern, line, texture, value, edges and space. In her work she loves integration, repetition with variety, movement, rhythm, and subtle strength.
Anne is a recently elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists. She won second prize at the Cornwall Regional Art Gallery in February 2006 for her mixed-media portrait titled The Reason 3. Anne will be exhibiting at the Toronto Art Expo (www.torontoartexpo.com) from March 16 to 19 2006, and at the Ottawa Art Festival (in aid of the Kidney Foundation) from April 21 to 23 2006.

"Like all children, I began life as an abstract artist. Now, making art means coming home to spontaneous self-expression in a much more complex and layered world."

BRETTMary
She started her artistic life in school in London, England, where she studied to be a teacher and concentrated on needlecraft and art. Since her arrival in Canada in 1969 she has worked on developing her artistic talents by taking courses and attending workshops while devoting most of her "free" time to painting. Her "un-free" time was devoted to volunteer work for various cultural development organizations, constantly trying to get the community more involved in the appreciation of all manner of arts and crafts.
Her fortunate clients all appreciate the loose, flowing and sometimes impressionistic interpretation of our world that often goes unnoticed in our rush through daily life. She is continuing to expand her vision and newer works deal with multi-media portrayal of the world as she sees it.
Mary also finds time to teach watercolour at night school for the Ottawa Carleton School Board. She is a past-president of "ArtEast" and is an honorary lifetime member of the Gloucester Arts Council.

CLARKEStephen
Stephen’s education and training is as a designer/ illustrator. In addition to a career in advertising and marketing, he's produced editorial cartoons and illustrations for magazines, juvenile and children’s fiction and calendars. He has also been painting and drawing. His work, which is in private and corporate collections in North America and Europe, divides into three (occasionally overlapping) categories:
Sketches and paintings reflecting the life and atmosphere of France, particularly the countryside and villages of the Gironde and Dordogne.
Landscapes, still lifes and nature studies, frequently capturing the colour or feel of the seasons in rural areas in Ontario and Quebec. Sometimes, they document the familiar - what is outside the door, or even in his studio.
Editorial and illustrative paintings representing snap shots from the semi-logical context of dream narratives. These pieces strive to capture the incidental nature of our perceptions and absurdity of our fears.
