Robert Rohrer

Your care boxes arrived today in theatre, Kabul Afghanistan to be exact. There are 43 Canadians posted here for tour lengths from 4 to 13 months. We are different ranks, (Cpl to General) and varying jobs. Some of us put in extremely long hours every day, while others are on call for an emergency. We are 1600 people from different nations all packed into a very small camp. What I would like to tell you is how much everyone appreciated these shows of support while away from our families during the holiday season.

I am an Air force member on his fourth operation outside of Canada and I can honestly say that I have never had so much support for a mission. We are the envy of every Nation in ISAF. The boxes that we receive from Canada mean so much at the holiday season. I would like to personally thank everyone for both your kind supportive words and your show of support. Please extend my sincerest thanks to all organizations involved.

Sincerely

Capt Garry Wheaton

Kabul Afghanistan

Hi there,

I am serving in Kabul right now, and I wanted to let you know that we just received your parcels and that everyone of us was so surprised! Thank you for making the effort to do this for all of us, I can tell you that it is truley appreciated!

This Christmas has been strange for us being away from our families, but thanks to people like you who take the time to let us know we are not forgotten, we can take pride in what we are doing and know that missing Christmas with the kids isnt for nothing. May sound silly that a small parcel can help you get through this lonely time, but its everything youve done to make that parcel arrive here that hits home with us.

Thanks again from your grateful soldiers.

Hello to everyone at Br.112.  I was happy to receive your package on Christmas morning,
which was a whole lot nicer then shovelling gravel to make a walkway through six inches
of water just to get to the bathroom.  Its been raining for about three days and mud is everywhere.
We had a concert that night with Rick Mercer and Mary Walsh from this hour has 22 minutes,
and a band called Jonas that could have drowned out the guns firing on Christmas eve.
Over all not too bad of a Christmas,
thank you and happy new year,
Stefaan Frech

Mr. Robert Rohrer,

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Hopefully you are having a white Christmas back in Ontario, because I am not
counting on one out here.  Aside from the lack of snow, all is great at sea.
Although we may not be slicing the turkey at home, or decorating our houses.  We
have made the ship our home this year; by decorating various spaces, and serving
up a traditional Christmas dinner.  Thank you, and the many members of your
legion who have taken the time to send us a care package.  Receiving gifts from
you and various other organizations back home has raised the morale of the crew.
Although being away from home at any point in time is difficult, Christmas time
is especially hard.  Everything that you have sent, from the playing cards to
the fisherman's friends has lifted the spirits of each  and everyone of us.

Thank you, and Merry Christmas.

Dear RCLegion, 112
Thank you so much for the gracious gift that you sent to the crew of the HMCS
Ottawa for christmas.  It is so deeply appreciated by everybody I've talked to
and does make it a little easier to be away from home during this christmas
season knowing that people such as yourselves haven't forgotten about us.

I have been in Afghanistan since mid August and will not be home until sometime
in March. I have not missed home until now. With Christmas approaching I am
thinking more and more of home, family, and friends. Your package were very well
received by all. Despite being away from home I could not think of a better
group of people to spend the holidays with. Thank you for your presents and the
time put forth to ensure we received them. More importantly is extremely
comforting to know that are mission and sacrifices are not forgotten.

Merry Christmas

To whom ever sent this package I just received at christmas here in Kandahar...

Thank you very much.I would like you to know that I'm not a soldier,I'm one of the

many civilians here helping our boys and girls.I have a personal attachment to the

branch 112 people ,my name is Brian Wilkins and I'm the current 2nd.Vice president

of the Oshawa and District Dart League.I came here to afghanistan on Dec.6 06 and

have taken on the responsiblity of refueling different areas of the base.As well I

unload planes and move cargo around as needed.I do not leave the base, but with the

several drivers here, the soldiers no longer have to do those tasks ,and they can

prepare for the hard job of going outside the wire. The other day they were throwing

a baseball around just before a mission, and they thanks us for being here.It was the

first time they were able to relax in 7 months. It makes me feel good inside as I know

it makes my co_workers feel the same.I want to thank you again for the packages,it

really made a difference for alot of tired people here knowing you care.It was by no

means was a small gesture. Thanks again...Brian Wilkins..2nd.vice president..Oshawa

and District Dart League.

Mr Rohrer: I just wanted to thank you and your organization for the Christmas package you sent.

I can appreciate the time and effort made to put together so many gift packs for us all,

and I hope you know it is well received. Your thoughtfulness does make being away from

home easier to bear. Sincerely, K Helmink, WO

Hello, I just wanted to say thank-you for your package to deployed soldiers as part of

'Operation Santa Clause'. The packages were eagerly received by us, and they made it feel

just a little bit more like Christmas.  Your time and generosity are much-appreciated.

I hope that you also had a wonderful Christmas, and that someone did something nice

for you, too! (:

Take care,

Sue

Hi, I just want to say thank you for the Christmas package, it was very much appreciated.
It was a real treat to get a nice surprise on Christmas morning here in Kandahar.
I am not one of the soldiers who so bravely risk their lives out there fighting.
But I am one of the CANCAP civilian contractors who serve those who serve over here.
I work in the communications department and help to keep their computer systems operational.
Thanks again and Merry Christmas to you!
