The INMWC (women's council) strives to keep you updated on issues and continue to support the Oneida Traditionals. However, the site is closed down due to funds & we need to rebuild yet a THIRD site all over again. Will be up ASAP when a free web space is found.
RE: Oneida Trads, NY; Danielle Schenandoah daughter, Clairise is recovering/back at school & things are going a little better for her and her family. Please continue to support her family through her work. HELP is needed. See address below to help and posts in messages here as to what is needed. Clan Mtr. Ray Halbritter, is the illegal "self-appointed/BIA appointed for LIFE" "Chief", and has a Non-Traditional "Men's Council". Clan Mother's Powers have been abolished and 14 families lost their homes so far. Even Gov. Pataki had asked Prez Bush to "get involved" (Land issues in NY). THE ONEIDA TRADITIONAL'S SUPREME COURT APPEAL HAS BEEN DENIED!!!! THIS SAD TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE requires much prayer and steadfast support for the Oneida Traditionals! If necessary we will be alerted for any organized plans AND CALL TO ACTION... Cameras, and other items, such as tents, food, firewood, flashlights, batteries, will likely be needed if we are invited. Then, the 2nd Circuit Ct ruled once again in O.I.N.'s favor. Remember foremost, that this is about THE TRADITIONALS' LIVES AND THEIR LAND! FURTHER BACKGROUND: After waiting for months for the decision of Judge Norman Mordue in Syracuse, Ny on the Oneida Final Disposition Brief/Indian Civil Rights Act and action by the Oneida Traditional Plaintiffs to save their homes and continue living on the "disputed 32 acre Territory" in Oneida, NY, the May 12th 2003, hearing in "corrupt Tribal Court" was held. Homes were scheduled for demolition, then re-scheduled... Previously, Judge Mordue "called" and "negated a "stay", which would allow for forced re-inspections and probable demolitions of the Plaintiffs' homes under the guise of Ray Halbritter's "Housing Beautification Project". Fourteen families have lost their homes, (See "The Fourteenth Family", documentary) and have in some cases, such as Danielle Schenandoah (Patterson's), have been seperated from their children, jailed out of state, (illegally), and beaten by the Oneida Police. Danielle then moved to a farmhouse, but was forced to leave due to flooding and other factors. Danielle still envisions a future with her family and has not given up HOPE! ("The New Seed") Many friends have helped Danielle, but she , Vickie, and Diane still need HELP. Gas prices have made their only means of income; "working" Pow-Wows, difficult. Some may need a home to stay at during their travels. Yours? Further, Demolitions on "the 32" acres were scheduled to resume on Aug. 20, 2003... Then Sept. 9, 2003. Then OCTOBER 25/26TH, THEN... Whenever!!! The legal team had worked hard to stop this illegal action BUT THE SUPREME COURT WON'T HEAR THE CASE! The Trads continue to struggle to bring the entire "situation" to the public. Danielle & daughter Jolene spoke at the "UN PERMANENT FORUM ON INDIGENOUS PEOPLE" ('06/'07). Danielle has been involved in communications for The United Native Nations Truth Network & Voice Confederation to "provide better service to all people... cultural knowledge sharing, updates of current happenings and events"...THE VISION IS BEING HELD! We can help put forth the truth in this matter, and we must continue to encourage the Peaceful Resistance of the Oneida Trad's/Plaintiffs on the 32 Acres in this dispute on The Oneida Indian Territory, Oneida, NY. Let's show The True Oneida Traditionals our support! PRAYERS for PEACEFUL RESOLVE, HEALING & UNITY of THE ONEIDA NATION, and even Ray Halbritter are requested. More Oneida archives: The mostly "Non-Indian" Tribal Police force there may include a convicted child molester and felon. Also, a few years ago, an Oneida Policewoman was questioned and was to be charged in a high-speed chase OFF the Territory. After the fact, the "story" on this seemed to just "disappear"... Also, an investigation into the disapearance of Tammy Maloney was carried out on the Territory with no outcome. Read earlier archived messages in the Yahoo group for this and other articles from year 2000 on.
In the past, a ridiculous allegation was made by OIN about a letter threat, to Turning Stone Casino (Halbritter's people), which is totally unfounded as the people of the 32 are "NON-VIOLENT"!! The SAcred Longhouse which The Traditional Oneida are "not allowed to use", IS THE PLACE WHERE THE CORRUPT "TRIBAL HEARINGS" ARE HELD. THIS IS NOT A LEGAL COURT AND THE PROCEEDINGS ARE NOT RECOGNIZED BY THE ONEIDA TRADITIONALS UNDER "THE GREAT LAW OF THE HAUDENOSAUNEE". THIS IS A DIRECT VIOLATION OF THE ONEIDA TRADITIONALS' CIVIL, HUMAN, AND RELIGIOUS RIGHTS, as well as SOVEREIGN RIGHTS AS ONEIDA INDIANS!
THE INDIAN CIVIL RIGHTS ACT LAWSUIT SHOULD BE HEARD BY A NON-PARTIAL JUDGE, AND THE HOMES AND LIVES OF THE 14 FAMILES AND ALL ON THE "32" SHOULD BE RESTORED!
More history: IN THE PAST, ONE OF HALBRITTER'S ATTORNEYS HAD RESIGNED; Also in the past, another Halbritter attny. had died causing 2 other attorneys to ask for a delay in a hearing. ALL MEMBERS HERE ARE IMPORTANT AND HAVE DIFFERENT "GIFTS" TO CONTRIBUTE! LET'S DO WHAT WE CAN TO UPHOLD THE TRADITIONALS! AND other issues of interest to YOU! We miss Cloud and others who have not been able to participate here for various reasons but we keep going here!...We are a growing voice in the Oneida issue as well as other issues. We are widening our circle of meaningful friendships.
