Thanks for Visiting! Thank you for dropping in to my website. As you will see from this gallery, I'm primarily interested in landscape painting, occasionally with wildlife, and I find most of my inspiration right here in Missouri. We also get around to the National Parks for additional inspiration and over-stimulation. All of the paintings you will see here are in water-based acrylic, my medium of sanity. I paint in a dry-brush technique, which allows for multiple layers of the quick-drying acrylic paint, on both masonite hard board and canvas. In 1997 I was a finalist in the National Arts for the Parks competition, and had the pleasure of traveling with my wife, Marjorie, to the Grand Tetons National Park to attend the awards ceremony. I'm also proud to have had four one-man shows at the internationally known Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis, where I presented Seasonal Glimpses of both the Shaw Nature Reserve and the Botanical Garden itself. My work is currently represented exclusively in St. Louis at McCaughen & Burr Fine Arts on Gore Ave. in Webster Groves, Mo.. I'll be involved in the 2008 Historic Shaw Neighborhood Art Fair in St. Louis, my fourth year in a row to be admitted into this prestigious and popular juried art fair. My paintings have been purchased for the corporate art collections of Sachs Properties, Mark Twain Bank and others in St. Louis. I hope that you enjoy this sampling of my work. Some of the paintings in this gallery are still available for sale. Please drop by this site again as new paintings are added. John Odell |
