Welcome to Pioneers Toastmasters

This website is for members and anyone else who may be interested in improving their communication and leadership skills.

Toastmasters is an international service organisation focused on helping people overcome their communication fears.  We operate as a club that provides a supportive environment of self paced learning.  We won't guarrantee you'll loose the butterflies, but as one astute Toastmaster said, we'll get them flying in formation.

Our club is a good mixture of the "old" and the new with Toastmasters ranging in experience from 12 years to 1 month.  This means we are able to lend our years of experience and yet still learn from the fresh ideas brought in by new members.

At a typical meeting chaired by the Toastmaster of the day, we have three prepared speakers, four or five 1 minute off the cuff speeches (table topics), a grammarian who challenges us to include the word of the day in our speeches and introducers and evaluators for each speaker.

Evaluation is an important part of learning.  Our informal rule is that for every recommendation an evaluator makes they give twice as much feedback on the strengths of the speech and speaker.  This way we all feel good about our efforts and motivated to continue, yet still receive some specific help in how we can improve next time round.

The most important thing about our meetings is that they are well organised, yet relaxed, and we have fun.

If you would like to start your morning with a buzz that keeps you up for the rest of the day, come along and visit us for a no obligation (don't even speak if you don't want to) Toastmasters experience.  We love having guests!
