Welcome to this preview of the chapbook, For Today (Daily Considerations). These poems are intended as positive thoughts on situations we all face. It is the author's fondest hope that the reader will find practical value for positive change in their own lives. The excerpts will be changed periodically to give a more rounded feel for the book's contents. Enjoy!
The Road To Love
They say there’s a road to love that we travel,
It’s marred by pitfalls that we all face.
Not four lane and smooth, but one lane and gravel,
So we need to take time and not race.
The landscapes vary, as we travel the road,
Some are lush while still others are bare.
Relationship challenges vary the load,
And the effort required to care.
Paying attention on the road is a must,
To ensure our place when we arrive.
With effort required to build love and trust,
If our relationships are to thrive.
Today, my relations will on love be based,
So the obstacles we face will fail.
And I’ll take my time for the right roots to trace,
For the highway to love is a trail.
Making Things Happen
One of the greatest hurdles we all have to face,
In this industrial world where we live,
Is making the things that we need to, take place,
As life often takes more than it gives,
We’re surrounded by a great deal of movement,
But when we need to begin something new,
We must focus on our improvement,
To complete what we choose to do.
Others may not care, or find your plans lacking,
You may find yourself plodding, or stuck,
You need desire to keep yourself tracking,
And avoid being buried in muck.
Today, I will not be held back by resistance,
That I meet as I act on my plans,
I will fix my sights on the goal in the distance,
And do everything that I can.
Faith
I’ve often heard it said and discussed at length,
They say that faith is blind,
Faith is a mighty source of interior strength,
At least that’s what I find.
But we can go further in describing faith,
As truth we feel beyond what we see,
Profound unshakeable knowledge make no mistake,
As real as you and me.
The power of faith we exercise each day,
Affects our world for real,
People who are ill and have faith they say,
Are many times faster to heal
Today, I see faith as knowledge supreme,
Extending beyond what we know,
Beyond what see, hear, smell, or dream,
With power that we can show.
A Graceful Heart
Gestures of gracefulness, so I find,
Reflect the root of the soul,
They lighten the spirit, and ease the mind,
And help make others whole.
Thinking of gracefulness brings the mind’s eye
To dancing, or visual art,
But “gestures of gracefulness” also applies,
To gentle expressions of heart,
Graceful can also be used to describe
Someone gentle and kind,
Gracefulness happens when people decide,
To exercise a helpful mind,
Today, I see through gracefulness of the heart,
That I have the power to lift,
With respect and tolerance, I’ll do my part,
To make my friendship a gift.
