Love has always been a fixture in poetry for as long as man has written. We strive through poetry to find more expressive ways to share the deepest feelings of our heart. Whether we wish to share the tenderest feelings, the deepest pain and longing, or merely just to understand that most prevalent and elusive of emotions, poetry serves to paint our feelings where mere words cannot. Living Through Love explores love as we know it and feel it. Enjoy!

Be Still My Heart
Be still my heart
Beat not so loud
For the dull echo booms
Through ears that yearn
To hear only my siren song
Yet on it pounds
Thud upon thud
Racing ahead of my mind
As if to leap from my chest
To be nearer to you
But how could I ask
A heinous request
That it could ever love you less
When you thrill the heart’s soul
And it wraps itself around you.

Photograph and Memory
From deep inside your photograph
You smile in 2 dimensions
Glossy colour brings your eyes to life
They penetrate and hold me fast
An invisible hawse fastened firm to my brain
I drift around you
Staring, staring

Yet here so many miles away
My heart cries out
For the eyes cannot see
Nor hold me close
As I relive in my mind
How long we stared, spellbound
In the full 3 dimensions

The Two Hearts
The winter of love blows cold and harsh
And chills the heart to the quick
The heart withdraws and wraps itself
In sorrow’s blanket thick

Until there comes the touch of spring,
In a heart that stops to care
To help unbundle sorrow’s wrap
And with the cold heart share,

My heart was wrapped up tight until
You stopped to thaw it through
And furthermore with joy instill
This heart gives thanks for you.

Love Whispers
Reach out my dear and whisper love
Speak softly for you are my song
The music of your gentle tones
Rests lightly on my weary ears
And fills the emptiness within
It cools like water fresh and clear
Invigorates and strengthens
It moves me deep within my being
And slakes my thirsty soul.
