Our Streams Of Thought
Our streams of thought
have changed their courses-
mostly due to outside forces.
Sinking to the valley's low
to mountain tops our thinking grows.
Wondering if this world of sin
will ever be at peace again.
Crying children in the dark-
life long love that's lost it's spark.
The artisan worker has faded away
technical glitches are the norm of the day.
Pride in work has left it's place
replaced in time by ugly hazes-
as all are squeezed in tiny work spaces!
On the highway the races begin-
watching the cars and trucks cut in.
More young folks driving
to here and there-
cell phones and radios
fill the air-
turned way up loud
so as to be heard
by the "maddening crowd".
If we are lucky, our exit's near-
to roll and drive to sanity dear!!
But, NO--as soon as we walk in the door-
the TV, computer and radio roar....
Nerves are frayed, and screaming begins-
as laundry is piled up high on the floor-
no one's made dinner, or done a chore.
All wrapped up in needs of our own-
back to our computer, and picture cell phone.
The family has died, and nobody mourns--
nothing is missed, for it never existed--
self-serving interred--priorities twisted!!
Ah---take me home sweet stream out back
to a time when family was where we were at!!!
