Below you'll find both a list of software that can help you read content on your computer if your vision is poor, as well as links to visual aids you can purchase to help. Most new computers come equipped with built in accessibility options for those with low/limited vision. These typically can be found (within Windows programs) within the control panel (then accessibility options).

I am not endorsing any of the following products, and to the best of my knowledge the software is all free or on a "Trial" basis. Please contact me at habanno@comcast.net if you find an outdated link, or would like to suggest one of your own.

Organizations for the Visually Impaired

American Foundation for the Blind - designed to encourage aging adults with eye diseases to live independently and productively.

National Federation for the Blind - assistive technology products, resources, and information.

Software Programs

IE Spell Checker  I haven't had a good place to keep this link, but now it has a home. This is an awesome spell checker for anyone who uses Internet Explorer. It's a simple download, and doesn't take up much space. You can access spell check options from within almost any application. Excellent program!!!

Magnifying Glass This is an outstanding, and simple, program. By far, my favorite. It turns your cursor into a magnifier, which you can enlarge or shrink to your preference. The program is very easy to turn on and off. Installation was simple and didn't require registration, and doesn't appear to have a trial period. Highly recommended.

Zoomaview Zoom is a "no-frills" type program. You are allowed a trial period, after which you are given the option to purchase the program if you like it. It is a small box that sits in part of your screen that you can enlarge to your preference. It magnifies the text that your mouse is passing over. A nice program, and easy to use.

Lens-Magnifying Glass This is up there as one of the tops. For those of you looking for a great product, and a cool skin; this ones for you! This product is free, and features multiple skins, one of which is an actual magnifying glass (cute touch). It will magnify from 1x to 64X and has an easy to use console that is fairly compact. Great program, and the skins make it fun to use.

 Lupe For Mac users.
