This course takes them into the art of writing where they will learn how to defeat the dreaded synopsis. They will also learn how to create dynamic characters that move a plot forward and avoid many common mistakes that result in a rejection letter. These rejection letters can devastate most authors. Writer often stop writing when they receive a rejection letter. This course will go beyond teaching the art of writing to covering aspects found in the breakout novel, or page turner. A good novel will sell, publishers want them, editors need them. Editors are looking for marketable novels, but they also need writers who can edit. This course also moves past the novel and teaches writers how to write a synopsis. This tool will sell their submission to the editor. It is only a part of the submission like the partial, and the query letter. All work together to keep the writer's manuscipt out of the slush pile.

How to Write Romance - Suzanne wrote both a historical romance and a romantic suspense novel. To date she only received one rejection letter. Suzanne's novels are known for the characters ability to grow while facing their problems and conflicts, and for the way their relationship grows from one of conflict and strife to a believable pure love. How to fall in love, and what love is, are two topics covered in this course. Writers are taught how to use words and descriptions to show the character's emotions and trigger the reader's emotions. This creates emotional impact. While working as an editor Suzanne James edited several genres of romance from vampire and paranormal romance to inspirational romance. Some of these genres include Regencies, Scottish romance, Pirate, Gothic romance, Western romance, American Western romance, and contemporary romance. Whether an author is writing short stories or magazine inspirational stories, they will find this course informative. Students from the course “How to Write a Novel” will learn how to add elements of romance, love, and use flirting in their storyboards. In addition, this course ventures into some of the common mistakes and strengths made by writers like head hopping, passive voice, showing and telling, active voice, and dynamic characters. How to write articles covered: regency, historical romance, contemporary romance, inspirational romance, genre romance, category romance, short stories, true stories, preditors and editors, publishing scams, publishers, agents, how to aquire an agent, vanity press, self-publishing, all these are covered in the writing workshop style classes. Students who want to learn to write a romance will find everything they need to create strong characters, dynamic plots, good character motivation, build tension, increase the stakes, good endings, hooks, climax, black moments, breathers, blurbs, synopsis, query letters, partials, promotions, ebook publishers, digital publishers and POD publishers.
