My Grandad was born in Craiglockhart poorhouse in 1916. His mothers name was Grace Shaw. She left him with a Nellie Findlater in Corstorphine, but returned for him when he was older. He refused to go with her, Im trying to trace her family and find out what happened to her. I think her married surname was Payne and she lived in Lochee, Dundee by the 1960,s.

Neill, we believe was born in Scotland. He married Mary( b.1788) They had two sons; Adam and Samuel. They are believed to have been born in Ireland. Probably N.Ireland. My family has history with the L.O.L.. My GGrandfather was a member in Ontario. Adam Sinclair was my GGGrandfather. Born in 1821. He married Rebecca Glass in 1844 in St. Mary, Napanee, Upper Canada. Rebecca died before 1861. My GGrandfather, William John Sinclair was their second child. He was born on Apr 11,1846. His siblings were Neil(b. Jan.4,1843) and Helen(b. 1848) William John married Mary Mageret Wright(b. May 26,1867) If any of these names are familiar to anyone, please let me know. Alexander jnr (engine fitter) born 6th June 1881, Montrose Road, Forfar. Married Helen Constance Brown Forster. Died 16th Nov. 1946 at Killermont Cottage, Bearsden. Naval residence at time of death 10 Stanley Avenue, Prestwick, Manchester.

 

Helen Samson Smart (school teacher) born 3rd Oct.1883, Montrose Road, Forfar. Married Wm McNicholl (shipwright), County Hotel, Forfar 26th Sept 1916. Died 20th Jan 1939. Address at time of death, 30 Cumbodden Drive, Glasgow.

 

Charles (Chas) Adamson Smart born 6th July 1885, Montrose Road, Forfar. WWI gunner with the Canadian Royal Artillery. Married Annie Ritchie, County Hotel, Forfar 7th June 1919. Chas had an Ontario address when he married & it is believed Annie joined him there. Annie lived at Windyedge farm, Forfar prior to the marriage.

Margaret (Meg) Adamson Smart (dressmaker) born 5th Oct 1888, Montrose Road, Forfar. Married Christopher Melville (dentist), County Hotel, Forfar 29th Apr 1916. Address on marriage certificate: 22 Fenton Street, Alloa & 22 Church Street, Alloa.

 

Rose Smart (school teacher) born 6th Nov 1890, William Street, Forfar. Never married. Died 1973, 11 Lour Road, Forfar where the family had moved to after the 1901 census.

 

Annie Glen Smart (dressmaker) born 20th June 1893, William Street, Forfar. Married Edward Blyth (chemist), Royal Hotel, Forfar 17th Nov 1922. Edward's address on the marriage certificate: 8, Gilmour Street, Ibrox. I believe they had a son also Edward.

 

Allan (Ally) Adamson Smart (plumber) born 4th Nov 1896, William Street, Forfar. Married Christina Cumming 20th Aug 1940. Moved to 7 Lour Road, (also owned by the family) after the death of Ann Adamson, 4 Apr 1944 until the death of Rose in 1973.

STEWART born abt. 1793 in NY state, first of Stewart line to be born in NY, married Hannah PALMER, who was born abt. 1780 in Greenville, Greene Co.,NY.  They migrated with her family to what is now Jacksonville, town of Lysander, Onondaga Co. in first half of 1800's starting town called Palmerston.  From there moved down road to Town of Granby, Oswego Co., NY to what is known as STEWART farm, just outside of Fulton,NY.  I need to find his parents and birthplace and definite birthdate.  Any info gratefully welcomed.  Thanks, "Gramma"

Married Jane Davidson from Scotland abt 1740. Had at least one son Thomas born abt 1740. Thomas married Catherine McEachern and had 5 children only 2 of them had children. Thomas died abt 1813. He was a native of Kelso on the Tweed Scotland. He came to Nova Scotia and settled in Cornwallis abt 1760.
