CABLE |Joseph...MURPHY Mary...PATTEN Arthur
b c1816
Hi All, I am hoping someone in here can help me in my search for the following family connections. I only started doing the family tree Nov'03 and have had a lot of help and even found family in various sites. Have now hit a few of those brick walls eveyone talks about so going back to basics hoping to confirm some of the data I have gathered. I have since been told that there may be a scottish connection as I thought Joseph was English. CABLE Joseph b 7th May 1816 Leicester UK, married MURPHY Mary Jane. Came out to Australia per the 'William Hammond' in 1856 with at least two sons, John b 1849 and William b c1847. Joseph came out as a Pensioner Guard. PATTEN Arthur Edwin, unknown where from, was a policeman in the Geraldton/Greenough area in the 1860's. The story goes he employed a Mary Jane CABLE, daughter of Joseph, she fell pregnant to him and had my g grandfather Arthur Edwin JONES b 1879. He took on the Jones name after Mary later married a Thomas Ishmael (or Ishmail) Jones in Geraldton 1882, Western Australia. Mary's brother John CABLE was also a policeman in the Geraldton area at the same time. He married an Emma POVAH in Geraldton. Emma's father was a butcher. She was adopted. Born as Mary L Barnard. Regards Karen Sunny Pilbara

Sisters Jane(known as Jean) and Christina joined him shortly after. Annie was left in the care of an uncle in Fasnacloik near Appin and emigrated in 1857 and also settled in Dunmore. Brother Ewan stayed in Scotland. Does anyone recognise this family?
