| Welcome to the SICA Website! Welcome to the Seacoast Irish Cultural Association's Official Website! Here you will be able to check up on SICA events and other Irish events in the area. A Brief Introduction to the Seacoast Irish Cultural Association Welcome to the Seacoast Irish Cultural Association! SICA is a non-profit, family oriented organization dedicated to the discovery, enjoyment, and preservation of Irish and Irish-American culture in the in the seacoast area and beyond. In the past, we have held many events and attended many more. We have marched in parades, danced and played at festivals, discovered our roots, learned our history, read literature and recited the great bards, enjoyed our music, viewed and discussed our films, cheered at athletic events, eaten and traveled together. Most months, we hold a get-together called a ceili. Live music is usually featured at these events along with ceili and set dancing. The first hour is dedicated to instruction and practice of the dances and a music session; if you play or sing, you can join the band! A pot-luck dinner is occasionally served, as well. Several people/places hold sessions for music and fun. The same holds true for the dancing. We try to hold literature meetings and film viewing on a regular basis. Those interested in genealogy and history have met routinely and hope to do so again. Our monthly newsletter keeps our members informed. It includes information on events that we sponsor and also area events that might be of interest to our membership. We are looking for participants and ideas! If you are not currently a member, please consider becoming one. It would be grand if you could join our group. | | | If you would like to use a shorter version of our organization's rather long website address. Try it next time using: http://sica.cjb.net | |
