Ball
The queens Christmas ball went with a swing, she gave presents to all her courtiers. Sir Davey received a pair of ear muffs for when he's on duty outside the palace. Jabba got a pair of gloves for when he cleans out the royal privvy.
War News
There were overtures made for peace by the German envoy Hans Full. As long as Baron Aldreagan does not sing on the front lines again war will cease with an apology to the queen by king Reticent III for calling her a ginger nut.
Yo Yo has been promoted to lieutenant and it looks as though he will be knighted. Steve Adore returned to duty on the front line and lanced Baron Aldreagan's boil, the baron will be able to sit in a months time.
Sir Davey's New Play
Sir Davey's new play opening at the Curtain does not look like it is going to be the success that it looked like it was going to be. Edmund Moore turned in a fine performance in Sir Davey's "A Christmas Without Carol", which saved the play from being an utter disaster. Edmund played a woman and what a well observed part he played, he could almost be a real woman! The play tells the story of a woman called Carol who leaves her home to become an Actor on the stage in a time when women were not allowed to act. She does this at Christmas and because of her dual roles cannot attend the family celebrations at Christmas. Thom Carouse played the supporting role as Carol's father. He performed competantly but there was none of the flashing brilliance he has displayed in his past performances. The play will run for about four weeks.
Also seen at the play was Lord Billy Bonzer who took the Lord's Box with his new lady friend Bette Onnme. Bette was dressed in the latest fashion which happened to be turned up shoes, made from burnished leather. Henry Usher Monroe was left out in the cold guarding the Lord's carriage, I think he is having second thoughts about serving Lord Billy.
Pete Zahutt also attended but Lord Billy would not let him in the lord's box, so Pete ordered a bread dish from the bar covered in red stuff and cheese and enjoyed the play immensely.
Lord Athis was busy last month playing Steve Adore, Jabba Zahutt and Edmund Moore at bowls in the Quad. He won every game but was confused by Edmund's flippancy towards his bowling technique. Steve Adore and Sam Matter also had a game and Sam won convincingly, although they both missed too many shots.
The Latest Fashion
Last months fashion were turned up shoes. Steve just had time to prance around in his blue fringe turned up shoes before he went back to the front. Sam Matter wore little pink ones and Gina Lollamoney wore tartan ones. Next months fashion will be bodices (Gentlemen are excused).
Pigeon Post
Sir Castaneat has arrived safely in the West Indies, there was only a slight brush with a spanish galleon. El Draco sent them packing. They will rest for a few weeks then will head to South America to try to find El Dorado.
Cat Catches Criminals
The Manx has again aided authorities in capturing a band of Spanish smugglers trying to sell beer and pipes cheaply on cheapside. If only we knew who the valiant vigilante was.
Black Masque Ball
The Black Masque was seen stealing a brass ball from the sign of a pawnbrokers shop. Nobody tried to stop him. He did try to rob Lord Billy Bonzer of his trinkets while the Lord was on his way to the theatre. The Masque was disturbed by a detachment of the queen's guard, led by Sir Davey, who were doing a bit of late night shopping at Pete's Hut.
Party Zone
There is a Pizza Party at Pete's Hut, the dress is informal but you are asked to buy your own drinks after crazy hour! It is in the third week of January.
