Family and Individual
Talent Award Program (FITAP)
CONTEST !!
This is an international PWP program, which features numerous age and art categories for members and their children to enter. Chapter contests are held in February. 1st and 2nd place winners advance to the regional (most of Virginia) contest in March. Those 1st & 2nd place winners then go to the Zone (Virginia, Delaware, Maryland) contest in April. Finally, the 1st & 2nd place zone winners go to International, which is judged in July.
Each member and member child can enter up to five different categories. You cannot enter more than once in any category. Entries do not need to be made especially for the contest. Look at the things your kids have done in school lately - collages, poems, stories, computer programs, science projects. Check out your vacation photos, that afghan you crocheted, the treehouse in the backyard.
Each entry must be made by one person only. No group projects can be submitted. Parents can provide instructions and advise, but the child must do his/her own work on the project.
Age categories are (as of January 1, 2006) - through age 5, 6-8, 9-11, 12-14, and 15-17. There is a category for young adults 18-21, but they must still be living at home or attending college and be unmarried. There is a category for children of any age with disabilities.
