Metal Gear - The Movie

14th May 2007: Ign has confirmed that after some disagreements over story between MGS actor David Hayter and Konami, Hayter will not be a part of the film. Apparently, Konami and Hayter have different views on where the story should go and because of this, Hayter will not be hired as Screenwriter. So, David Hayter will not be a part of the MGS movie...Bummer.

12th May 2006: Kojima has confirmed that a Metal Gear Solid movie is in production. He's letting very little slip at the moment, confirming only that a Hollywood movie of MGS is on the way. The only other known detail is that the movie will be in English. More as soon as it is announced...

Metal Gear fans have been either waiting for this news for the past 6 years or so, or have been dreading the day they would hear it: Hideo Kojima may be ready to part with the movie rights to his most successful creation to date. Although he has held tight to them for years, it seems he may finally be ready to loosen his grip and sell up, he has revealed to entertainment magazine Variety.

Kojima-san is a firm believer that, if any movie based on his Metal Gear games were to be made, it should stand on its own, with an almost completey separate storyline. "Things one can express in a game are different of those in a movie," he says. "It would have to be a very different script, almost a different story."

Rights to the movie have not yet been sold, so there is no movie currently in the works, but interest is sure to be roused by Kojima's comments, and talks will likely begin soon.
