Who's Who?

The Choir Committee 2007

Conductor: David King (Staff) 

David King (Conductor) first became a church organist when he was 15, and for 25 years he studied with Gordon Phillips of the London College of Music. He has sung in many choirs and broadcast with the York Music Society and Winchester College chapel choir. He has conducted the Stirling University Choir since 1990. In this time, the programmes have included C P E Bach's Magnificat, J S Bach's Ascension Oratorio, Christmas Oratorio, Magnificat and St John Passion, Brahms's Requiem, Dvorak's Mass in D and Te Deum, Fauré's Requiem, Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Nelson Mass, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Mozart's Coronation Mass, Requiem and Solemn Vespers, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle, and Stainer's Crucifixion. In 1994 he conducted the televised Christmas Eve carol service for BBC Scotland.


Accompanist: Sam Hutchins (Community)

 

President: Kim Allison(2nd year undergraduate)

I have been a choir member, in the soprano section, for just over a year now. My main duties are to ensure the smooth running of the choir.

 

Hon Treasurer: Tony Tortolano (Community) 

I have been a choir member, in the tenors, for 11 years, coming from the community rather than the university. My main duties are to organise funding, keep membership records and accounts straight,  collect members' subs, to issue concert tickets, and collect cash from their sales.

Hon. Secretary:   Katja Neumann (3rd year undergraduate)

Choir Librarian: Susan King (Community)

Susan King, alto, Librarian and Chief Carer of the Conductor! Member of the choir for 26 years.

Social secretary:

 

Publicity Officer:
The role of the publicity officer is to put up posters around campus and in town to advertise choir rehearsals and concerts. Also to e-mail radio stations and newspapers to advertise forthcoming concerts.

Programme Secretary: Rachel Dawson (3ed year undergraduate)

The role of the programme secretary is to collect the adverts, put them in to some kind of order with Davids notes, take it to the print room with the cost code details etc., make sure that the program is collected, distribute it at the concert, make sure that Richard receives the invoice so he can pay the bill.
