To all active supporters of school table tennis activity:
We completed our 9th annual TDCAA Boys Table Tennis Championships on Wed. 23 at Brebeuf, who took the title for the third consecutive year over Senator O'Connor. Many thanks to Mike Daoust for once again hosting in their ideal facilities and to our invited control desk team of Barbera Lee (Univ.Waterloo) and Mr. Boon Chew (Scarb. Kings T.T.Club), who volunteered a full day from their work schedule for our benefit! Special mention to Beatrice from Etienne Brule for her skillful part in the mid-day demonstration with Gordon. I hope to provide complete results of championship/consolation results in the Toronto press (Star/Sun) upon the conclusion of the Girls' tournament.
Now it's your final chance to be part of the exciting action - tomorrow, Mon., Apr.28th
all-day at Loretto Abbey (8:45a.m. - 4:00p.m., 101 Mason Blvd., Wilson Ave./Yonge Blvd.area, for the Girls' competition. Doris Hausman is prepared to put on a great display of hospitality. A special exhibition of table tennis is arranged around 11:30 (over the lunch break) including Carvo Grant, Pres. of Central Region of Ont. Table Tennis Association and Dr. Gordon Ng, a university buddy and Hart House teammate of mine from the 70's era!
I reminded Al Baigent of the medallions prior to the Boys' finals - thanks and it would be most appreciated if you could take part in the awards ceremonies at Abbey.
This year, no less than 5 schools hosted League matches (O'Connor, Yorkland, Crescent,
Brebeuf and Abbey) with intentions of doing same by Neil McNeil, Pope JPII and Romero.
Redmond and Mother Teresa are looking toward building up their equipment inventory of tables, etc. (any helpful ideas?) in order to reciprocate with hosting as well in the future.
After nine years of League activity (since its infancy at Mother Teresa and Mary Ward in 1993-94), the prospects seem bright with such a cooperative, committed union of coaches (A.D.'s) and ,of course, a League Executive Secretary as yourself, who supports the cause year upon year. Many positive comments about our Table Tennis League play and ideas for improving playing regulations and operation of our system of competition have
been expressed and shared, making the whole experience enjoyable and rewarding!!
In other words "HOIKITYCHOIK ON C" (CLass of '70). An invitation to join us on the 28th to one and all!!
Yours,
Eugene Kriksciunas
Senator O'Connor College
Convenor, T.D.C.A.A. Table Tennis League 2003.
