Book Recommendations
Note: The links below for each book are to Amazon.com. The books should be available most everywhere. The use of Amazon.com is not an endorsement - they just give a good description.
  • Let Me Hear Your Voice by Catherine Maurice - This is a wonderful "first" book for a parent who just got the diagnosis and wants to know what to do next. A great introduction to both autism and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
  • Behavioral Intervention for Young Children with Autism by Catherine Maurice, Gina Green, & Stephen C. Luce - A step-by-step guide to obtaining resources, setting up an applied behavior analysis (ABA) home program, and a curriculum guide to tell you what skills to train and why.
  • Don't Shoot the Dog by Karen Pryor - Karen Pryor developed clicker training for dogs and other animals. In this book she is able to describe behavior training in such a simple way that everyone will understand it and be able to apply it. The techniques work with animals, children, husbands, and wives. You will love this book!
  • A Work In Progress by Ron Leaf and John MacEachin - This book is similar to Behavioral Intervention for Young Children with Autism but in some ways is more informative and even more practical, if that is possible. It is especially good for older children to young adults with autism. It includes an assessment to see where your child stands now and what needs to be done next. A great curriculum for applied behavior analysis (ABA) home programs.
