Amazing Grace

By Spiritualized.
A slight departure from the previous two albums (Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space & Let It Come Down) but not somuch as reviews would have you believe.  Yet another seminal epic from Jason Pierce!

Live 1975: The Rolling Thunder Revue

By Bob Dylan.
Undoubtedly the best live Dylan album (either official or bootleg) with a great re-working of Isis in particular, and other older songs as well.  Joan Baez and Roger McGuinn are notable guests, but the star of the show (apart from Bob himself) has to be Scarlet Rivera who played violin of the magnificent Desire album and plays it superbly on several songs, both from that album (which had yet to be released at the time of the gigs) and along with the rest of the band on the electric numbers.  If you can, get the edition with the bonus DVD which contains a different rendition of Tangled Up In Blue from the CD, but equally as good.

The Final Straw

By Snow Patrol.
If you like the anthemic stylings of bands like Coldplay then the latest single by Snow Patrol, another find by the legendary Fierce Panda label, is called 'Run' and the rest of this album likes up to that benchmark.  More consistant than A Rush of Blood to the Head by Coldplay this album was originally released last year but without much promotion.  Now two bonus tracks are added to make 14 in total and they are virtually all of a high standard.  This is the best album I've heard all year so far, although from the showing of their current single, Keane will probably take that honour when their album is released in a month or so.  However until then Snow Patrol have marked themselves out as a band to watch in the future.
