Neighbourhood Watch
Our local group for The Boldons normally meets at West Boldon Junior School at 7pm where members can make suggestions to our local officers as to how they would like the area to be policed. These suggestions are seriously considered and wherever possible are put into action by the police.
The meetings are for everyone, not just for Scheme Co-ordinators. They are held at West Boldon Junior School, Hindmarch Drive, West Boldon.
The meetings work well because they provide a structured approach, where communication and informaton sharing is the prime objective. They are not police led, they belong to us and are as successfyl as you wish to make them.
Everyone knows that the police are there to fight crme but they cannot work in isolation, they need our help to do their job effectively.
The meetings for 2008 are as follows.
Wednesday 30th January
Wednesday 9th April
Wednesday 23rd July
Wednesday 1st October
All members are keep up to date by receiving a regular newsletter with good advice and warnings of possible dangers in the area whether thy attend the meetings or not.
At present our officers are:-
Neighbourhood Inspector, Peter Sutton,
Beat Sergent, Brian Hall, who can be contacted on 08456 043043 or leave a message on 0191 5365858.
Community Wardens work closely with the police by providing additional patrols, passing information and dealing with minor incidents of disorder. Their aim is to make our area a better place in which to live by reducing the fear of crime and deterring opportunist criminals. They do this by patrolling regularly, passing information to the Police and Local Ayuthority, reporting environmental problems promptly, arranging for removal of graffiti and repairs to street lighting, developing links with youth and community groups and reassuring residents.
Wardens are on duty every day from early afternoon until late evening. They can be contacted any day between 12 noon and 11pm by telephoning 0191 4203713
