Who Is The Holy Spirit?:
That divine Spirit, referred to in the Old Testament as "Spirit of the Lord" or "Spirit of God," through which men receive power; He lives and works in the hearts and minds of believers; Other names are: The Spirit, Counselor, and Comforter; The third person of The Holy Trinity.
For the Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.(Job 33:4; NLT)
"Then after I have poured out my rains again, I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions. In those days, I will pour out my Spirit even on servants, men and women alike."(Joel 2:28,29; NLT)
"But when the Father sends the Counselor as my representative - and by the Counselor I mean the Holy Spirit - he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I myself have told you."(John 14:26; NLT)
"But when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power and will tell people about me everywhere - in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."(Acts 1:8; NLT)
On the day of Pentecost, seven weeks after Jesus' resurrection, the believers were meeting together in one place. Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm in the skies above them, and it filled the house where they were meeting. Then what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other tongues, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.(Acts 2:1-4; NLT)
And Jesus Christ was revealed as God's Son by his baptism in water and by shedding his blood on the cross - not by water only, but by water and blood. And the Spirit also gives us the testimony that this is true. So we have these three witnesses -the Spirit, the water, and the blood - and all three agree.(1 John 5:6-8; NLT) (Or The Father, The Word (Son), and The Holy Spirit, which are one as The Holy Trinity)
