The first character you can control. Terra sets out to find out what Love is... And to find the truth to her existance. She is Half-Human, Half-Esper.
Special Skill: Morph
Terra's ability to Morph isn't unlocked until Zozo. This ability is extremely helpful, especially later in the game when you can start learning magic such as Ultima and Flare. When Terra is in Morph, she is limited to the amount of time she can actually stay in. The amount of time Terra can stay in morph longer if she "rests up" more between battles. Don't overuse her Morph skill however! If you are in a desperate situation in a Boss battle, and you have used the ability alot before hand, she will only be able to stay in for one turn or less!
Locke Cole

Locke initially rescues Terra from the Empire. At first, he is hesitant to do so, because he hates the Empire. Oh yeah, don't call him a Thief or else he will rip out your lungs!
Special Skill: Steal/Catpure
Once you are able to get the Capture ability (via the Thief Glove), this ability becomes extremely useful. With the Capture ability, Locke is able to steal and attack at the same time. This really helps when you are facing a tough opponent and they have an item that you really want!
If you just have steal, it's just as helpful, only you miss out on more damage per turn.
Edgar Roni Figaro

Edgar is the flirt of the game! He even tries to flirt with Relm. Besides that, Edgar is the King of Figaro Castle and is fascinated with machines. Edgar is the twin brother of Sabin Rene Figaro.
Special Skill: Tools
Like I said above, Edgar is fascinated with machines. He loves anything that has to do with them! Anyhow, his special skill is Tool, which features... guess what... Machines. Depending on the Tool Edgar will either dive right in and attack the enemy or stay back with the rest of the team and use the tool.
Sabin Rene Figaro

Edgar's twin brother. In order to earn his freedom, him and Edgar flipped a coin. The coin landed Edgar's side up, and Sabin was free. He met Duncan and learned the ways of Blitzes. He is a muscle-head, and as Terra said, "Is he a body builder astray from his gym?"
Special Skill: Blitz
Sabin's special abilities involve punching in a series of buttons. This ability is EXTREMELY useful no matter what point you are at in the game! I would definately reccomend Sabin for any party, especially if the party is lacking power more than anything! Oh, on the Blitz list, if it's a sideway direction, I'll just say Southwest, Southeast, or something, basically between Down and Left or between Down and Right!
Cyan Garamonde

Cyan is the second oldest member you will recieve. After the Empire poisons Doma, Cyan will eventually join your party. When you get to Narshe, he immediately gets mad at Celes. From what I've noticed, it's never diminished either!
Celes Chere

Celes Chere is a Former General of the Empire. She was turned to be a Former General when she was found questioning the Empire's ways. They locked her up in a Basement in South Figaro, where Locke found and rescued her.
Special Skill: Runic: This has got to be one of the, if not the, most useless ability except for one fight. And that fight just so happens to be where she basically is telling you to have her use it! Basically, she absorbs spells that are cast, inclusing your own, thus making it the most useless!
