Information: Sins mysterious power hurls Tidus, the young star of the Zanarkand abes blitzball team, into the greatest adventure of his life. Sin transports him to a far-away land...and it seems there is no way back. Far from his home and all that he knows, Tidus develops tender feeling for the beautiful Yuna. To cap it all, his conflict with his father Jecht flares up again.
 Tidus to alot of people they find him annoying. I find his personality a fresh breeze to the Final Fantasy lead personalitys. Cloud and Squall, both great characters had very similar personalitys. Zidane from Final Fantasy IX was just too pervy for my likings. Tidus's character has a huge impact on the story, he not only changes Spira's future but he saves the life of the woman he loves. He lets himself disappear so that Spira can live a happy life, with the defeat of sin. Tidus also confused by his own problems...Being his father Jecht, Yuna's sacrifice, and the drastic change of Spira always seems to keep a happy front on things. With all the stress and weight on his shoulders the only person who can keep him on his toes is Yuna. He also does the same for her in return.
Zanarkand is Tidus's hometown. "The city that never sleeps, the city of light". Tidus lived a happy life as the star player of the Zanarkand Abes. Tidus was a respected celebrity, until his world was attacked by the evil entity that is Sin.  After the destruction of Zanarkand, Tidus gets hurled 1000 years into the future, only to find out his beloved home is a holy place, that was destroyed 1000 years ago. When Tidus first meets Rikku, he tells her he is from Zanarkand and she warns him not to mention that to people because it might upset sombody. As Tidus's journey goes on he begins to realise his fate.
 That he might never be able to return home, and that it was all up to Jecht. When Tidus spoke of Zanarkand in Spira, people thought he was ill after getting too close to Sin's toxin. Many of Spira's religious ideas were related to Zanarkands blitzball, ie. The prayer.
Spira
Spira is the strange place Tidus get's sent to. Spira is a world controlled by Yevon, Spira is also a world without machina. Tidus obviously is very alarmed when he wakes up in some old ruins. Al bhed find him, and think he is a fiend. But Rikku steps in and saves Tidus's life. Tidus learns a little about albhed and why they are hated. They are hated because of there sacreligious ways of using machina.
After becoming a guardian to the young summoner Yuna, Tidus learns about why Yevon controls Spira. Yevon forbid the use of machina after the war between Zanarkand and Bevelle 1000 years ago. Countless people and citys perished, you can sometimes find ruins as you travel around Spira. Yevon go against there own teachings as there is machina in the temple of Bevelle. Spira being a totally diffrent place to Zanarkand Tidus finds it hard to fit in and not say somthing against the teachings.
Sin
Sin affects Tidus at the very beginning of the story when it invades his hometown Zanarkand. Sin is infact Jecht, Tidus's father. Sin is a monster created by Yu Yevon that punishes people for there sins. When a summoner fights sin one of there guardians has to sacrifice there life and become the final aeon. Yu Yevon then to make sure sin dosent die takes over the aeons body, killing the summoner in turn and creating a new sin. This method was stated by Yuna and her party as 'false hope'. The false hope meant that sin could never truly be defeated. After casting off there false hope, Tidus thinks up a plan of how to defeat sin. By going directly in sin and killing Yu Yevon. After sucesfully doing this an eternal calm would begin. Jecht
 Jecht. The manipulative bully or so it seems. Jecht, is Tidus's father. Tidus bares a huge grudge against his father. This has been there since he was a child because;
1. For leaving him and his mother
2. For bullying him as a child and making him feel worthless
3. For taking his mother away from him.
Jecht infact really loves Tidus, the only reason he was so harsh on Tidus was because it was his dream to see his son become the next famous blitzball star. Despite all the hurt Jecht caused Tidus. Tidus really does care for his father, no matter how many times he says "I hate you". Jecht, had trouble expressing how he felt, thats why he left a sphere for Tidus when he was grown up. Auron would also keep reminding Tidus that Jecht loved him.
When Tidus found out that Jecht was sin, he didnt believe it one bit. He only started to believe it after Sin destroyed operation Mi'hen. He said he could feel is father pressence. Auron then tells him "The reason he came here, was for you, he wanted you to kill him". Fayth
The fayth are people from zanarkand who cast there souls into stone to become aeons for summoners. The fayth made Tidus, Jecht and Tidus's Zanarkand, they control Tidus's life. The fayth are tired and explain to Tidus that they are tired of dreaming and that they want to rest. The fayth appear many times throught Final Fantasy X, the usually have huge impacts on the story.  Tidus's fate is sealed by one simple fact. That he is a dream, and he dosent technically exist. This sad fact is proved by the Fayths when the explain to Tidus that they dreamed him, his father and his Zanarkand up. They tell Tidus they are tired of dreaming, and they ask if Tidus will let them rest. Just before the final battle Tidus says he is a dream, and that after the last battle he will disappear.
 Everyone looks shocked and stunned but before they can talk about it YuYevon attacks. After the final battle, Yuna does a sending dance and all the aeons send. Sin then explodes into a mass of pyreflys. The fayth summit at Mt.Gagazet changes into stone, and all the dreams begin to fade. Realising he can no longer live in Spira, Tidus says goodbye to his friends and disappears into the sky. ~*~More~*~ | |
