     This site is about justice, healing, and finding closure for abuses that have occured or are still occuring at behaviour modification centers,  wilderness centers, bootcamps, and other institutions along those lines. In this site, you will find places to discuss issues related to peoples experiances in these institutions. You will also find ways to contact people, state agencies, lawyers, government agencies, etc. to file complaints, or to try and get answers and closure on civil rights abuse and violations as well. Please be respectful of others here and feel free to post anything you might find helpful. There is too much "legal abuse" that goes on behind closed doors. As people who have been through these centers we have an obligation to share our stories, and to try and find a way to keep others emotional, physical, and mental well being, protected from power and control driven abusers disguised as teachers and mentors. The things you will hear in this site are not slanderous, but are factual events of experiances people have gone through.

My name is Jackie, and i was a resident at "elan school" in poland springs, maine. I was a resident of Elan from September 1979-november of 1982. I went through months of living in corners in dissassociative states of mind, self-harm, extreme emotional and physical abuses. Things from 30 people at a time screaming in my face and spitting on me to being placed in restraints, to being placed in the boxing ring to fight with/against other peers as disciplinary measures. I went through extreme humiliation and degradation. My story begins at the age of thirteen. I am 41 years old and there is rarely a day that goes by that i dont have flashbacks or go through some kind of emotional turmoil due to the abuses i suffered during my stay in the "program". it is my hope that this site will help bring closure not only to myself, but to others as well. you can contact me on the message board. thanks to all who come in here and i hope you find what you are looking for.

just a note, so no one can say i didn't tell you, im now diagnosed with  post traumatic stress disorder, and  personality disorders. some from childhood traumas, and alot from my stay at elan.
