To the Parents :
At this particular time in your lives if you have found your way here, you are probably wondering how to help your son or daughter.
I have been there myself. As a child placed in elan, i wondered with my experiances what i could do when i as a parent, encountered my own problems with my teenage daughter when she turned 13. She became afflicted with bi-polar, and oppositional defiant disorder. Very hard times for us it was. The most important thing you can do for your kids if you are thinking of placing them somewhere, is research. Lots of research, please don't become frustrated to the point where you listen to someone else without first checking out what they say. There are good placements and there are not so good placements.
I created this site because i want you to be informed of the things that have happened to myself, and others as residents of the Elan School. This is not the only school of its kind. I know your frustration and i hope that this site can help you in some way. Having been through extreme mental, physical and emotional abuse for 2 years as a student there, i feel it my obligation to share my experiances, strengths and hopes. Past, present and future.
This site is not to deter anyone from seeking help, it is to deter any more abuse, in the name of therapy.
