Whats yer name mate
Sawbridgeworth, Herts. England
I am currently still in UK but am hoping to migrate to Florida within next couple of months. I am 49, divorced since 92 and just finished a long term relationship last year, although she's still my best friend.
I am a fully qualified masseur in Indian Head, Swedish, Sports and Aromatherapy as well as being a Tai Chi instructor. Unfortunately being a male masseur at my age is damn near impossible to get employment. Tried self-employed but still no go. I am also a builder/handyman and this has kept me going for past 4/5 years.
Realised there's nothing to keep me here now so I want to start a new life in the States where age isn't important, so hopefully can get back into the massage. Never had the guts to do this before and still a little apprehensive, but what the hell!

My husband and I have been planning to emigrate to the US for the last 6 months. We were in Florida last week as my husband had a couple of job interviews and he had a job offer before we flew back last Friday! His new employer is going to sponsor him for an H1B visa and is filing an application with the INS/dept of Labor, hopefully, as we speak. With any luck we should be able to apply for our H1B and H4 visas by October. We have 3 children aged 14, 10 & 3 and can't wait to start our new life!

I am still currently in the UK. My objective is to move to the USA on an H-1B Visa, easier said than done. I made a huge mistake by chosing a relocation company whose main aim is to secure a visa for me within 12 months ( A very expensive lesson I learned). From what I can gather I basically need to find an employer willing to sponsor me. My field of work is senior retail management, although there are thousands of jobs advertised for this position are companies willing to sponsor me? I have applied for hundreds of jobs and posted my resume to just about every employment agency in the USA.
Is there anyone in the same boat, if so, can you share any ideas/experiences?

New York
Alex and I married in 2003 after a whirlwind romance on the beach in Scarborough, Rhode Island. He was living at home (UK) and I was already in New York. Alex moved here to be with me and my children.
We tackled Homeland Security and it's multi-page, multi-step process. We FINALLY had the temporary visa status removed and are waiting for his 10 year Green Card!!
We have a 15 month old and parent my three children from another marriage in our home.
We hope to return to the UK sooner than later. In the interim we are making a happy home in beautiful upstate New York.

All over really but my last posting was in Chilwell, Notts.
Washington, DC
I was posted over here while doing an In-Service Masters Degree as a Major in the Royal Engineers. Brought the family with me and my wife got a great job with a real estate company. Anyway at the end of my tour the family said: "We're not going home!" So I had to bite the bullet and retire. Anyway I managed to get a job with a constrcution company and was intimately involved in rebuilding the Pentagon, both before and after 11/9/01. My wife is now a Vice President in her company and I am enjoying being a retired Sapper and loving living and working in the States. Five years down the road in the quest for a Green Card, but my company is sponsoring me and picking up the bill, which is a huge benefit!!

Valdez, Alaska
Needed to find work & poof, here I am.
Alittle about myself; you can view my profile on msn personals. I've been searching for a young lady to come join me here in Alaska. I looked in Alaska to start, then tried the lower 48, & now I'm searching world wide. Purhaps she's here in this group, don't know unless I try. So that's what brings me here to your group. Still searching...
If interested, you can email me at hotmail...

Nevada, USA
I am a British Citizen by birth. I have 4 children from 15 to 26 years, all are british. Three Girls and a Boy !
My youngest is here with me and so is my Son, he is in Pennslyvania at the moment, he is 22 years old, my other two are 21 and 26. wow this so ages me..
I was born in Lewisham, SE13, London.
I had always wanted to live near the Sea and so I moved to Hastings.
I have now been in Dry desert Nevada and there is no sea around me.
infact not much water at all and when a cupful water comes from the sky , they yell a strom.oh boy if only.
I came here after talking to a US citizen for nearly 2 years over the net/phone.
We eventally married and thats why I am here.
I have family back home and miss it alot, I also miss the food,
Culture, Hastings Sea, family, friends, accents, pop over, chatting over the fence so to speak, our humour, our TV, Our way of talking, it would be great to talk to another True Brit, the british accent, words and so forth.
I
am in two minds about returning to live there. I miss so much and yet I don't want to leave here. I have family who needs me back there. I have written a Pros and Cons list for going and staying. I have to work it out one day, oh well I am not yet in a hurry to decide.
My daughter has been here since she was 9 she now 15, and she is so american, I know alot of americans dont know she is a brit, unless they hear me, her friends have had her ring me to talk to me, to hear my accent silly hey. we have been here just over 6 years now. came here in 2001.
Ok I think I have covered abit about me.

Still there but planning a move to WI or CT
Recently married an American and in the stages of planning what we do next with our lives! We met on the net - like everyone else! - and he's been a student here since. He's lived here for 5 years or so and we feel that we'd have a better chance of sorting ourselves out financially in the US. I currently work in immigration law in the UK although don't have formal legal qualifications so hoping somehow to translate that to America. Not sure if it'll work but willing to give anything a try once! So good to know that America is full of Brits and looking forward to joining in the ex-pat chat and friendships!
