Spades v.3.0.0

This freeware Spades game uses DirectX animation, features scanned decks and has strong AI.  You may play both the 4-player partnership game and the 3-player game. A couple of scoring options are available too. For endless hours of play. Spades is played quite widely in the USA. It is a plain-trick game in which spades are always trumps. The four players are in fixed partnerships, with partners sitting opposite each other. The cards are dealt singly, until all 52 cards have been dealt and everyone has 13.Each partnership must make a bid, which is the number of tricks they expect to take. In is important to realize that in Spades both sides' bids stand (it is not like other bidding games in which only the higher bid counts). Beginning with some specified player (either the dealer or the player to dealer's left), and proceeding clockwise, each player states a number of tricks. When the second player of each partnership bids, the final bid for that partnership is decided. A player who wanted to bid nil would do so at their turn to bid. A player may only state a number. The player to dealer's left leads any card except a spade to the first trick. Each player, in turn, clockwise, must follow suit if able; if unable to follow suit, the player may play any card.

Tarocchi Lombardi v.1.0.0 (Tarot)

This is a suite of two Tarot games as played in Lombardy and Piemonte, Italy. The game is played by 3 players. The first dealer is chosen at random and the turn to deal passes to the right after each hand. Each player receives 25 cards in packets of 5. The dealer receives additionally 3 cards (for a total of 28) and then discards 3. Each player plays for herself. The Fool does not take and cannot be taken. The player shows this card to others and puts it in his taken tricks. It is possible to play the fool only if the player who put it down, won already minimum one trick before. Otherwise, if the player doesn't win trick in the entire game, the fool is taken by the winner of the last trick.

Three Thirteen v.1.0.0

This variation of Rummy has eleven rounds. The object of the game is to form all the cards in your hand into sets. There are two types of set: a group of three or more cards of the same rank and a sequence of three or more cards in the same suit. Sets can contain more than three cards - for example four sevens or 8-9-10-J-Q of a suit, but you cannot count the same card as part of more than one set.In each round there is a wild card. It is the card equal to the number of cards dealt. Aces rank low in this game, so A-2-3 is a valid sequence but Q-K-A is not. Wild cards can be used in place of any other card in making a group or sequence. You can even make a set that consists of only wild cards if you wish.

Whist v.2.1.0

This is a suite of two Whist games, the classic (standard UK/US rules) Whist and the Minnesota Whist, which, as the name implies, is played in Minnesota (both northern and southern variants are available).

Classic Whist

In this game you can play the classic game of whist with authentic scanned decks, against strong opponents and with realistic animation using the DirectX engine. Whist is a plain-trick game (without bidding) for 4 players in fixed partnerships. Although the rules are extremely simple there is enormous scope for scientific play. Whist was derived from the older game Ruff and Honours. There are four players in two fixed partnerships. Partners sit facing each other. The dealer deals out all the cards one at a time so that each player has 13.The player to the dealer's left leads to the first trick. Any card may be led. The other players, in clockwise order, each play a card to the trick. Players must follow suit by playing a card of the same suit as the card led if they can; a player with no card of the suit led may play any card. The trick is won by the highest trump in it - or if it contains no trump, by the highest card of the suit led. The winner of a trick leads to the next.

Minnesota Whist

Each hand is played either "high" or "low". If it is played "high", the partnership that takes at least 7 of the 13 tricks scores points. If it is played "low", a partnership must take 6 or fewer tricks to avoid losing points. All four players indicate whether they wish to play the hand as "high" or "low" by simultaneously placing a card face down in front of them. A black card indicates that they wish to play "high"; a red card indicates that they wish to play "low". Usually players pick their lowest red or black card to represent their bid. Starting with the player to the left of the dealer, each person turns over their bidding card in turn. If the card is red, the next player to the left turns over their card. If any card is black, all revealing of bid cards stops and the hand is played "high". Only if all four bidding cards are red is the hand played "low".
